Trail Monitor Annual Report Form
As a Mountain Bluebird Trails Conservation Society Trail Monitor volunteer you agree to to help bluebirds and other native cavity-nesting species by providing and maintaining nest boxes in appropriate bluebird habitat. You will clean out old nest material annually and you will submit information collected about the MBT boxes on your trails by SEPTEMBER 1 each year. Also you will report any boxes which were removed from or added to your trails.
Trail Monitor Data Tracking
Every time you visit your Bluebird Trail be sure you are taking detailed observations and notes of the following:
Bluebird Trail Name
Number of Boxes
Number of BB Nests
Nesting Species other than BB
Successful BB Nests (young fledged)
# of BB Eggs
# of Sterile BB Eggs
Abandoned BB Eggs
Dead BB Nestlings
BB Nestlings Fledged
Boxes Stolen/Vandalized
Boxes Used More than Once
Unused Boxes
Interesting Observations – box had mice nesting, nest was destroyed and how if known
If possible determine if the nest was during the first or second nesting period
Be sure to track information for all nest types and indicate species accordingly!
Compile Data in Annual Report Form
Your timely submission of your Bluebird Trail’s Annual Report Form helps us to compile annual statistics in time for our Annual General Meeting in October. If you are unable to report, have questions, or need support, please contact us as soon as possible so arrangements can be made. Your data is an important part of us understanding changes in our Trail Network over time. The annual deadline to submit data is normally September 1.
Two Ways to Submit Annual Report Forms
Every Bluebird Trail needs to submit an Annual Report Form. If you manage more than one Bluebird Trail, plan to submit more than one Annual Report Form. ALWAYS keep a copy of your data.
Our preferred method of receiving your data is via email in excel spreadsheet - this allows us to quickly and easily compile our annual data.
There are two ways to submit your information:
Option 1 - Email (preferred)
Download a MBTCS Annual Report Form (above) and submit one worksheet file for every Bluebird Trail you monitor.
Fully completed excel spreadsheet forms can be emailed by clicking the letter button below:
Option 2 - Regular Mail
Fully completed worksheets and summaries can also be mailed to:
