Great orientation day!

It was another successful Orientation Day for the Mountain Bluebird Trails Conservation Society.

President, Jim Leitch, introduced twelve Mountain Bluebird enthusiasts to the workings of a Bluebird Trail.

Once again we were treated to not just the beautiful Mountain Bluebirds, but other varieties of birds such as tree swallows, violet-green swallows, a belted kingfisher, a bald eagle and many others. And as a reminder to all trail monitors to be aware of what is around you at all times - we heard the distinguished rattle of a Prairie Rattlesnake as we ventured just a little too close to where he was hanging out. We respectfully gave him his space. Sorry folks, I wasn't willing to try for a picture!

Jim's trail never ceases to impress as he showed the group all stages of Mountain Bluebirds, from eggs to hatchlings to nestlings and one of his boxes was ready to fledge (leave the nest). In addition to the Mountain Bluebirds, some of his boxes were being used by tree swallows and one other box was being used by the stunning violet green swallow.

Thank you Jim for taking us on another tour of your trail and sharing your stories and expertise with the group!
