A total of 45 boxes from this initial group have been completed and are being installed along the trail. Rick Williams, who serves as the trail monitor for this area, is coordinating placement to ensure suitable spacing and habitat conditions for nesting birds.
Volunteers are taking advantage of favourable winter weather to complete installations before mountain bluebirds begin returning to the region in March. Early placement allows birds to locate and establish nesting sites at the start of the breeding season.

This work is part of a larger project to add 180 new nest boxes across Southern Alberta. Providing well-maintained nesting structures remains a practical and effective way to support mountain bluebird populations on prairie and foothill landscapes.
